Hi! My name is Ava :) I’m the artist behind Mirage Media and Video.
I've always been someone who loves to listen, connect, and understand what matters most to the people around me. Maybe that comes from growing up in a big family, where there was rarely a shortage of people, stories, personalities, or reasons to gather. As the eldest daughter and granddaughter, I grew up especially close to my elders and extended family, and those relationships taught me early on that there is so much worth knowing about those that you love.
Mirage started with stories.
In 2017, Mirage Media & Video began as a podcast production company dedicated to amplifying voices and sharing meaningful stories. Since then, it has grown into a creative media company with that same purpose at its core: celebrating people. My own life has only deepened my understanding of why that matters.
After losing some of the family members closest to me, I found myself wishing I had asked more questions. I wished I had recorded more stories. I wished I had more of their voices, their mannerisms, their perspectives, more pieces of the people I loved that I could return to. Those experiences changed the way I pay attention. They reminded me that so much of life is happening right in front of us, and that the ordinary moments we're living today can become the extraordinary memories we desperately want tomorrow.
Then came North Carolina.
After the pandemic, I moved from New Jersey to North Carolina, and that transition gave me something I desperately needed: time and space to finally dive all the way in to my love for photography and film.
I have always been in love with how film could capture a voice and photography can capture a feeling. I knew I wanted to create a career where I can share that love with others.
And yes, the blue and orange are intentional.
Blue represents the part of storytelling that draws me inward: depth, trust, reflection, honesty…
Orange represents the opposite, and just as important, side of life: warmth, creativity, energy, joy, movement, and connection.
What I value
At the heart of my work are a few things I don't want to compromise on:
Connection.
You should feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
Authenticity.
Your story doesn't need to look like everyone else's. In fact, I hope it doesn't.
Honoring people and their stories.
Because the people, moments, relationships, and ideas that matter to us deserve our attention.
So, what brings you here?
Are you planning a wedding and want to recall as much of it as possible?
Do you want to give your family the gift of hearing the stories that might otherwise disappear with time?
Are you building something you're incredibly proud of and want people to understand your why?
Maybe you're creating an experience worth remembering.
Whatever your story is, I hope to hear more of it, and help you honor it.
